December 2021 NEWSLETTER
It’s Mike from Sunspot. Last day of the year. Second time in a row, it’s been weird. No matter where you are or what you’re doing for the New Year’s holiday, we hope you find yourself happy, healthy, and looking forward to the adventures that 2022 is going to offer. No matter what kinda crazy shiz happens, we’re in this together and we’re planning on making this new year great. The world is wild and unpredictable, it always has been. Art is finding the beauty in that chaos. I mean, this year was already better than the last (just check out this $hit$how from last year on December 30th to see chaos in action!) But every generation has some kind of challenge, I always hoped ours would be an alien invasion, oh well…
We love and appreciate each and every one of you. Your enjoyment of the music, podcasts, videos, and everything else is why we do it. It’s the communal creation of something bigger than ourselves. We might be playing the music, but it’s more than the sum of the chords, notes, and amplification. It’s the reaction we have together that makes it transcendent. I’m looking forward to much more of that in 2022.
Music To Look Back On
While live shows didn’t get kicking until the second half of the year we wrote new tracks and made videos for them throughout all of the first half of the year. We put those green screens in our houses to good use and I even got a ring light so that I’d look extra pretty for you. We’re really proud of the music, especially since a lot of it we threw together right before we did a Thirsty Thursday livestream and we were performing, creating, and editing under the gun. It’s not all perfect, but it’s a perfect time capsule of the way we were able to keep connected with all of you even while we couldn’t play live shows.
New Year’s Eve Flashback
Let’s head back 16 years to New Year’s Eve 2005 when you can see us in a great show with one of the most fun Midwest bands ever, The Goodyear Pimps at their favorite place, Otto’s in DeKalb, Illinois near Northern Illinois University.
It was a wild night with the flatlanders for sure, but it’s fun to look back at these babies and enjoy the mid-2000s style. Besides my gigantic pants, things haven’t aged that badly.
Okay, well maybe a little badly. Check out this stallion. Spiky hair, Hurley shirt, and ball earrings. Yes ladies, we have found everything you’re looking for. Did we mention he’s a sensitive artistic type as well?
Live Shows in 2022
2021 did have some amazing shows for us. Obviously, getting to open for Everclear in Madison and at Summerfest was a special treat because they were real heroes for us while we were developing our sound. Gin Blossoms in October was something special because their album came out when we were Freshmen in High School and it was the soundtrack of our lives.
The Michigan Paracon in Sault Ste. Marie in the Upper Peninsula was special because we played their acoustic for so long, and this year we got to do our full set with all the electric rock instruments. And play music for some of the people that inspired us directly, that really was something else.
Our last live show was Milwaukee Krampusnacht and it was a wicked Christmas party!
We will be back in Southeastern Wisconsin January 14th at McAuliffe’s Pub in Racine. One of our favorite places on the planet. If you’re anywhere between Milwaukee and Chicago in two weeks, we WANT TO SEE YOU.

We’ll be announcing some online meetups for early 2022 shortly, so it’s a great time to become part of the community that wants to take the rock n’ roll paranormal to the next level!
Have a great New Year and we’ll see you soon!
